Carter has worked for two manufacturing plants over the past two years
Design, automation, and manufacturing are all areas that Carter thrives in
Marvin & BTD provided amazing learning opportunities to ensure a seamless entrance to the professional environment
Focus Areas
Example shows a variable table height system
Tasked with raising and lowering a table safely
Solution was stress tested and fully modeled
Flagship project for general work done
Picture is of a prototype saw guard
Tasked with protecting area of chop saws
Prototype above was built based on my design
Studied usefulness of design / improvement routes
Example shown is an existing anchored easel
Tasked with making this easel mobile
Worked with maintenance to make for easy construction on existing infrastructure
Key Project - Flip-up Transfer Table
This design features an over-centering linkage and gas springs to make an easy lift table for operators
When going over center, the mechanism locks in place
Extensive stress / dynamic analyses were performed
Grasped the innerworkings of Autodesk Inventor and its family of software
Used background in programming to automate projects with I-logic
Took charge and completed projects from the ground up, including the paper trail
Tackled more sophisticated design scopes
Worked under constraints for safety (pinch points), cost effectiveness and manufacturability for usable components
Worked as a team in a professional setting
Focus Areas
Example depicts a storage solution for operators
Fabricated through press braking and welding
Modular slotted design for future expansion
Leveraged sheet metal CAD for efficient design
Machinery upkeep / minor improvements
Time studies
Organization of projects
Design of mobile cart for use with a conveyor belt and Keyence Vision system
Verifies correct fabrication seamlessly
Currently used in the factory to improve quality control
Accustomed to Solidworks and its ecosystem of software
Became familiar with company-wide standards
Learned standards for starting and completing projects
Began the process of designing for operator use
Gained insight into the tasks and skills of a professional engineer
